The structure of the framework was the aftereffect of a task supported by the Greek Secretariat of Research and Technology . It will work in the National Center of Immediate Assistance (KEBAB in Greek), which manages crisis clinical occurrences by planning and directing ambulances to fitting emergency clinics and wellbeing units just as offering clinical consideration to patients during their vehicle to medical clinics. Our examination unit was for the most part answerable for structuring the GIS subsystem, which establishes the essential focal point of this paper. We will compose a custom article test on Man-made consciousness paper or on the other hand any comparative subject just for you Request Now The paper is an all-inclusive form of one introduced at Delegate 2000 (Drinkers, Gorillas, Makers, Presents, Siestas, Disallows, 2000). An activity with significant significance for the treatment of crisis episodes is the directing of an emergency vehicle to an occurrence site and from that point to the nearest suitable medical clinic. The ideal courses relate to least required transportation times. Seeing such courses may demonstrate as tedious on account of huge urban communities, for example, Athens with thick street systems. In any case, by misusing late advances in the field of information structures, the presentation of a most brief way calculation as far as the necessary computational time can be essentially upgraded. The fuse of the upgraded most brief way calculation dainty the GIS will bring down our system’s reaction time, subsequently expanding its powerlessness. This paper is composed as follows. Segment 2 quickly presents essential parts of a Gig’s offices in displaying and breaking down spatial systems. In Section 3 the general incorporated framework is portrayed. Area 4 arrangements with the GIS subsystem and portrays its key capacities. Area 5 quickly clarifies how the exhibition of a most brief way calculation can be improved, while Section 6 shows how to consolidate this upgraded calculation inside a business GIS, for example, Raccoon. At long last, Section 7 sums up the aftereffects of the venture. . Displaying and investigation of spatial systems GIS innovation incorporates normal database tasks, for example, inquiry and measurable examination with the special representation and geographic investigation benefits offered by maps (SERIES Web webpage; Franklin, 1992; Mueller, 1993). In addition to other things, a GIS encourages the displaying of spatial systems (e. . Street systems), Other accomplices in this undertaking were the University of Piraeus, the National Technical University of Athens, the Aristotle University of Thessalonians and the organizations ITCH G. Consumers et al. /Compute. , Environ. Furthermore, Urban Systems 25 (2001) 267-278 69 contribution calculations to inquiry and investigate them. Spati al systems are demonstrated with charts. On account of street arranges, the graph’s circular segments relate to road fragments though the hubs compare to road portion convergences. Each circular segment has a weight related with it, speaking to the impedance (cost) of crossing it. As a rule, an arc’s impedance is a component of the relating road segment’s length and traffic volume. A GIS for the most part gives various devices to the investigation of spatial systems. It by and large offers instruments to locate the briefest or least impedance course fashioned a system and heuristic methodology to locate the most proficient course to a progression of areas, generally called the voyaging sales rep issue. Distribution capacities appoint parts of the system to an asset gracefully area and following devices give a way to decide if one area in a system is associated with another. Separation network count can be utilized to figure removes between sets of causes and goals though area portion capacities decide site areas and allot request to destinations. Additionally, road delivers can be changed over to delineate (address coding). At last, unique division activities offer methods of displaying occasions (e. G. Asphalt quality, speed zones) along courses (SERIES Web website). These abilities of GIS for investigating spatial systems empower them to be utilized as choice emotionally supportive networks for the districting and directing of vehicles (Grassland, Wynn, Perkins, 1995; Keenan, 1996, 1998). . The general incorporated framework Up till now, Kebab’s workers were utilizing paper maps and their own involvement with request to accomplish the compelling directing and districting of ambulances. In any case, these two capacities, which establish critical territories in the field of choice help yeasts (Eom, Lee, Kim, 1993), require the mix of a PC based f ramework with geographic examination and representation devices and a media transmission arrange. The activity of the coordinated framework will mechanize and upgrade a considerable lot of Kebab’s administrations. The system’s engineering is portrayed in Fig. 1. It depends on the incorporation of GIS, GASP and GSM advances. The GASP and GSM advances will be utilized to transmit the specific places of ambulances to the GIS working in Kebab’s Operations Center. The joining of these advancements empowers the administration of vehicles, for example, numerous trucks, watch vehicles and ambulances (Hauberk, 1995). Every one of these applications are portions of the new developing orders of teleprocessing and media transmission (Laurie, 1999, 2000; Tanzania, 2000). Every emergency vehicle will be furnished with a GASP beneficiary to decide its careful position dependent on the sign transmitted by satellites. What's more, it will have a GSM modem so as to transmit its situation to the base station in the Operations Center. This will be accomplished through the GSM organize. Moreover, through the GSM organize other be outfitted with a PC or a 270 Fig. 1 . The general incorporated framework. Portable information terminal to show the course figured by the GIS working in the Operations Center. Kebab’s Operations Center will trade information with the ambulances through the GSM arrange. It will get the rescue vehicle positions and will utilize the GIS to play out the capacities portrayed in Section 4. The ideal course determined for a particular rescue vehicle will be transmitted to it. In the Operations Center there will be a PC committed to correspondence with the ambulances and another for the activity of the GIS. Furthermore, there will be at least one PCs for the activity of the database the executives framework (DB’S) containing information utilized by the GIS. These days, most GIS programming bundles offer a rich arrangement of devices and augmentations, empowering the joining of GASP information and offering ongoing following abilities. Arrangement Archive, for example, offers an augmentation considered Tracking Analyst that permits direct feed and playback of ongoing information inside the Archive GIS condition (SERIES Web website). The system’s engineering follows the brought together methodology (Laurie, 2000; Tanzania, 2000) whereby a control place (for our situation Kebab’s Operations Center) organizes the armada of versatile vehicles. Information from the vehicles and sensors are sent to this inside and, in the wake of being assessed, information and guidelines are transmitted to the vehicles. A solid purpose of this engineering is the effectiveness with which it is planned. 71 However, the peril of an accident in the control community comprises a significant shortcoming (Lament, 2000; - bluster, 2000). 4. The GIS subsystem The GIS will utilize different information that are either put away in spatial databases and DB’S or transmitted through the GSM organize. Spatial information will cove r the street arrange, the areas of clinics and clinical focuses, the places of ambulances, he dispersion of episodes happening previously, the circulation of populace qualities (e. G. Segment qualities or ailment spreading), and areas of different tourist spots. Fundamental spatial information for the street arrange identify with crossing points and the street fragments are coded dependent on convergence type (e. G. Railroad going across, road convergence) and the sort of traffic control gadget present (e. G. Stop sign, stop light). Street portions structure the system for various other geographic highlights characterized utilizing course frameworks. Road names, for example, are characterized as courses. Along them speed zones ND speed limit signs are recorded as straight and point occasions, separately. What's more, paths are recorded as straight occasions along these courses. Since most of lanes are just two-path private roads, just areas with multiple paths are recorded. Another significant angle is the chronicle of the areas of emergency clinics and corner stores. Additionally, address data identified with the street organize is being put away, encouraging coding activities. Information concerning street traffic will be helpful for the directing of ambulances. These information will be refreshed by handling traffic measurements and at the same time taking into inconsideration online information getting from traffic sensors introduced out and about system. The National Technical University of Athens has introduced circle sensors out and about system of Athens, giving fundamental data on traffic conditions. Traffic information will be put away in a DB’S. Information relating to occasions, for example, street works or showings that additionally influence street traffic will be made accessible from the district or the police. Information concerning clinics, ambulances, and their work force will likewise be put away in the DB’S and utilized by the GIS at whatever point it is important. Data connecting ordinary escape clause numbers with addresses is likewise put away in a DB’S. Its significance will get obvious in the following area. A portion of the essential capacities performed by the GIS working in KEBAB will be the accompanying: 1 . Delineation on a guide of emergency vehicle positions and clinic areas. Helpful questions that will be performed incorporate the showcase of data about an emergency vehicle or a medical clinic browsed the guide, finding all ambulances situated inside a square, all ambulances that are more like a medical clinic o

The study will investigate the advantages of global branding to organizations and establish how Vodafone can successfully adopt a global brand name. The study also will find out the challenges that Vodafone may undergo while advertising a global brand name in the mar ket.Research questions 1 Why has Vodafone sought to adopt a global branding strategy? 2 What are some of the challenges that Vodafone faces as it strives to adopt a global branding strategy? 3 What are some of the solutions that could be used in enabling a smooth transition into a global brand?Literature reviewIn the current business environment, global branding is a relatively new concept that multinational corporations are adopting (Cova, Pace, and Park, 2007, p. 319). A global brand has been defined as a brand name that is recognized internationally (McDonald, Chernatony, and Harris, 2001, p. 336; Pecotich and Steven Ward, 2007, p. 273). It is brand that is present in most parts of the world (Craig and Douglas, 1996, p. 72). Research indicates that global branding strategy involves the use of consistent appeal in all the markets CITATION Joss4 \p 50 \l 1033 (Rooney, 1995, p. 50). In the advent of globalization, the use of global branding strategy has become a necessity CITATION Die10 \p 502 \l 1033 (Ernst, 2010, p. 502). A German and English literature based study explores various benefits of global branding which include; increased identification, high levels of innovation and low advertising costs (Kelz and Bloch, 2009, p. 15). The major limitation of the study is that it does not offer practical examples using case studies. Also, study indicates that the nature in which a company engages in global branding determines its success (Wills, Samli, and Jacobs, 1999, p. 6). The advertising strategy adopted by a company to communicate its global brand must be effective for the desired outcomes to be obtained (Motameni and Shahrokhi, 1998, p. 280).Despite its massive benefits, there are various challenges which managers of multinationals face as they seek to develop a global branding strategy CITATION Mik05 \p 203 \l 1033 (Gabrielsson, 2005, p. 203). A U.K. based study observes problems such as strained relationships with advertising agents and market inst abilities as some of the major concerns CITATION Joh03 \p 9 \l 1033 (Quelch, 2003, p. 9). A critical evaluation of this study indicates that it does not offer a representation of the challenges that may be faced by multinationals in other geographic locations. Again, the concerns raised are few. Yet another study shows that communication through CSR is important in developing a comprehensive global branding strategy (Polonsky and Jevons, 2009, p. 331). Furthermore, a study among Finish firms indicates that the nature of the business determines the nature of branding strategy adopted. The study shows that Business-to-Business companies adopted different branding strategies with Business-to-consumer firms CITATION Mic073 \p 1091 \l 1033 (Beverland, 2007, p. 1091). A critical view of the study shows that it improves its reliability by focusing on Finish firms as the sample. However, its sample of 30 SMEs is not an adequate representative of large corporations which tend to need mor e global branding. However, a study using Marlboro as the case study explores how global branding can be achieved CITATION Hav05 \p 269 \l 1033 (Ling, 2005, p. 269). The only limitation of this study is that it only explains how and not why the global branding strategy was adopted. Again, the findings may not be applicable in other industries due to the uniqueness of the tobacco industry. In this study, the researcher will explain the concept of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Å"whyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Vodafone needs to embrace the global branding strategy. This is a more applicable concept in other firms since the benefits are related to firms in other industries.Based on the findings of different studies, the exploration of the global branding strategy in the case of Vodafone proves essential. Unlike previous studies, this research will explain the applicability of the global branding strategy in a major multinational corporation in the telecommunication industry. It will seek to identify some of the reas ons why the company should adopt a global branding strategy, the challenges that may be encountered by the management and a framework of possible solutions. The study explores the position of Vodafone which is relatively similar to other companies. With its declining profitability in some markets, Vodafone needs to re-invent itself through the global branding strategy. This study helps in providing recommendations on how this could be done. The findings of the study will be highly relevant to managers of other corporations seeking to adopt a similar strategy and the academic fraternity conducting research in related subject.Purpose of the researchIn this study, exploratory research will be used. This is a type of research that seeks to identify a problem that may be in a particular context and recommend a framework of solving it CITATION Geo05 \l 1033 (Dunbar, 2005). This research method helps in evaluating the context of one entity and developing a policy that can be used in resol ving the problems identified. In the case of this study, exploratory research is most suitable because it helps in identifying and explaining the problems that Vodafoneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s management may have to deal with while adopting the global branding strategy. Also explanatorily research is appropriate since there is no previous case study done on global branding strategy (Yin, 1984). An explanatory research will help in answering the research questions and help to identify the suitability of global branding strategy in Vodafone.By the end of the research, the study hopes to have achieved various goals which include identifying why companies such as Vodafone are advocating for the need to adopt a global branding strategy (Brand Finance, 2011). This will be achieved through the evaluation of the benefits that are associated with the strategy compared to the previous strategy that the company has been pursuing. Also, the researcher aims at identifying some of the challenges that Vodafon e may encounter while implementing the global branding strategy. Lastly, the researcher hopes to formulate a framework that could help Vodafone, and other multinational corporations encountering similar problems, in solving them.Research methodsResearch DesignThere are different approaches of research design that could be used in conducting research. A researcher may opt for either quantitative or qualitative research design approaches (Robins, Fraley, and Krueger, 2009). In most cases, the nature of the research question determines the approach that the researcher adopts in undertaking a study CITATION Ton96 \l 1033 (Greenfield, 1996). In the context of this study, the researcher will use qualitative research design approach. This is an approach that is used in developing ideas and concepts that can be used in the future formulation of hypothesis CITATION Ton96 \l 1033 (Greenfield, 1996).Qualitative research design is usually accompanied by other research tools such as case stud y analysis and interviews in developing a more comprehensive study CITATION RPa04 \l 1033 (Panneerselvam, 2004). In the context of this study, the researcher will use Vodafone as the case study so as to explain the problems that the company may encounter and recommend possible solutions. The design will be appropriate for the study in investigating the factors that may affect Vodafone while implementing the global branding strategy. Also, the case study approach is of great benefit in reinforcing the findings of the study since it may provide a framework of the development of a quantitative study in future (Pratt and Loizos, 1992).The use of the method will help in developing insights that add to the literature of global branding. This will help in improving the relevance of the study. The study will take an interpretive approach since the researcher will analyze and interpret data and provide findings in a report. The time frame of the research...

Scare Tactics Aids Epidemic Essay - 913 Words

Scare Tactics: AIDS Epidemic In 1991, Elizabeth Taylor said â€Å"It’s bad enough that people are dying of AIDS, but no one should die of ignorance.† Why was ignorance such an issue when a deadly disease was claiming lives daily? The definition of ignorance is a lack of knowledge or information. The AIDS epidemic that hit the United States over thirty years ago, sent fear across the country. With so much fear, why wasn’t there more information available? Why were people dying of â€Å"ignorance†? The first known case in the United States was in 1981. A majority of the cases were found in San Francisco and New York, primarily in the gay community. The cases were usually related to death by pneumonia or a rare form of skin cancer, called Kaposi’s sarcoma. Within a year, there were two hundred and seventy cases of the illness, more than one hundred men died. By the time people were being diagnosed, it was too late. Ad campaigns were aimed at the gay community. Their purpose was to promote safe sex and inform people of the dangers of AIDS. In 1986, the Health Education Resource Organization released an ad posted that featured two young men with the words, â€Å"‘You won’t believe what we like to wear in bed.’ Use condoms. There’s living proof they stop AIDS.† As time went on and more cases came, it was realized that this disease was not targeting on group. It did not discriminate, everyone was at risk. 750 Word Essay free essay sample

George Strait was born on May 18, 1952 in Poteet, Texas. George’s father, John Strait, was a junior high school math teacher and his mother was a homemaker. George was in fourth grade when his mother and father divorced. George grew up with only his brother and their father taking care of them. After high school, George eloped to Mexico with his high school sweetheart. When they got back, their families made them have a small ceremony for family and friends to make it really official. George enlisted and began serving in the army in 1971. While in the military he was stationed in Hawaii for three years. Norma moved to Hawaii to be with George. In 1972 George and Norma had their first child, Jenifer who died in a car accident at the age of 13. George taught himself how to play the guitar while in the army, playing country music from hit artists like Merle Haggard, George Jones, Hank Williams, and Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. We will write a custom essay sample on 750 Word Essay or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page He started a band that only lasted two months. George found out that the commanding officer was auditioning groups to entertain the base. George was hired and didn’t have to wear a uniform and got to wear western style clothing. After being honorably discharged from the army in 1975, Strait went back to college and got a degree in agriculture. During and after college George played in a band for different bars and honkytonks. This band was known as The Ace in the Hole. George joined this band after seeing their advertisement at college. One of the band member’s grandfather was Pappy Daily who was the manager of George Jones. George began playing for more and more bars and honkytonks. This started his singing career. Don Daily encouraged George and the band to come and record a demo to distribute to record companies. George played at The Prairie Rose (whose owner was Erv Woolsey until he sold it). Erv went back to Nashville and got a job as the promotions head at MCA Records. George went to Nashville and played some songs for promos, but nothing seemed to click. He kept going back and forth from Texas to Nashville with nothing to show for it for the next four years. In 1979 he almost gave up on his dream of becoming a country music singer and signed up for a job working for an outfit in Uvalde, Texas that designed cattle pens. Norma didn’t like George moping around, so she told him to give it another try. He decided to give it one more year. In 1980 George went and talked to Erv Woolsey, and they formed a plan that George would come and record three songs. With the three songs they started shopping for a record deal. Finally, he hit it with MCA Records. When George finally started his career he was considered the hat act, so in the 1990’s every guy in country music tried the cowboy hat. In early country music, cowboy hats weren’t in high fashion, but with George Strait it became a signature style in country music and that led to George being known as the original hat act. In 1981 he released his first single, â€Å"Unwound. † That same year George and Norma had another child: George Harvey Strait, Jr. (Bubba). George then followed â€Å"Unwound† up with number one hits like â€Å"Fool Hearted Memory† and â€Å"Ocean Front Property† time and time again. In 1984, George was announced Top Male Vocalist for Academy of Country Music. In 1985, George was announced Male Vocalist of The Year and had the Album of The Year for the Country Music Association (CMA) and Academy of Country Music (ACM). In 1986 he won Male Vocalist of The Year again for the CMA’s. In 1986 and 1987 he was Top Country Artists for Billboards. In 1988 George won Top Male Vocalist again for the ACM’s. George continued to win these awards year after year until 1990. In 1990 George became Entertainer of the Year, the award he wanted most. He won the award again in 2000. In 1992 George starred in the movie Pure Country. In the opening song to the movie, â€Å"Heartland,† his son, Bubba, sings the beginning of the song and the vocals fades into George Sr. singing the rest of the song. Even though the movie wasn’t as big as his music, the soundtrack to the movie was considered his best album ever. He still continues to produce number one hits and records. In 2006, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. George was announced as Artist of the Decade in 2009. George has had the best track record for country music in history. On February 2, 2012 George became a grandfather with his grandson becoming George Harvey Strait, III. George will be ending his touring career after his The Cowboy Rides Away Tour in 2014, but will still be making and recording country music. George Strait has 59 number one hit records and is known as a living legend and the â€Å"King of Country Music. † I choose to do this paper for the final because I thought it was stronger than my 1500 word paper. This paper to me had more meaning and I was interested in it more than the other one. With this paper I have been given the opportunity to send it to George Strait, himself, to have it signed. I think this paper is going to help me out for a contest to win tickets to one of his shows. This paper has more meaning for me since I am such a big fan.

Primitivism, criminals, illegal immigrants, smugglers, terrorists and actors are the major stereotypes associated with the Latino Americans. The westerne rs also portray Asian Americas as culture oriented, intruders, intelligent, innovative, sexually active, and hardworking. The westerners also view Middle East Americans as Muslims, moneyed, terrorists, bombers, thieves, and murders. Gender stereotypes in the United States reflect men as tall, huge, quiet and powerful while women are tall, slim, talkative and less powerful. Given the diversity of stereotypes that the Americans hold about each racial group, how do they affect effective communication? Stereotypes of various racial groups in the United States occur in the literature, media and comedies. The media constantly portray certain attributes and characters associated with given racial groups, thus changing the perceptions of Americans resulting into stereotypes. In schools, literature and socialization generate more stereotypes of various races. From the stereotyped attributes, I realized that the most prominent stereotypes about certain race are the negative ones implying that stereotyping is degradation of real attributes concerning specific groups. I discovered that stereotypes do not reflect the true and accurate attributes of a particular race or ethnic group because they are forms of criticism, which always tend to portray real attributes of the people in the most negative way possible.Advertising Looking for essay on ethics? Stereotypes are common during times of social unrest, political campaigns, games and another social gathering. Since stereotypes involve defamation, abuse and criticism, they are unfair because they negatively portray true attributes of the people. Stereotypes such as primitiveness and naivety interfere with successful communication because the person communicating sees the other as someone who does not understand the topic or the context of discussion and this degrading perspective contravenes existence of any meaningful engagement. Eventually, the communicating partners would not communicate effectively due to the stereotypes. Moreover, since stereotypes due to racial differences tend to classify people into stereotyped groups, the most negatively stereotyped group would feel degraded and develop fears, which would significantly interfere with effective intergroup communication. Stereotypes such as criminality, violence, and terrorism associated with particular races scare other racial group and prevent friendly interaction, which interferes with effective interracial communication. Understanding one’s stereotypes and those associated with other racial or ethnic groups would enhance effective communication. For effective communication to occur, one should be able to indentify offending stereotyped language and character in order to avoid annoying others who perceive such stereotypes as offensive. Nurturing of positive stereotypes about certain racial or ethnic group enhances socialization and thus effective communication. For example, identifying with cultural lifestyles of particular racial or ethnic groups promotes intercultural interaction, which ultimately improves effective communication. Stereotyping affects relationship among friends; for instance, one day, my friends teased me that I looked like a Negro and went further to discusses how Negroes are presumably primitive, naà ¯ve and poor. This experience heralded the death of our relationship, even though the perpetrators of the same were my very close friends. We almost fought and for the first time, I hated my friends for upholding misconstrued opinions.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Stereotypes of American Citizens specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Works Cited McAndrew, Frank, and Akande, Antoun. â€Å"African of Americans of African and Eu ropean  Descent.† Journal of Social Psychology 135.5 (1995): 649–655. Fieldwork papaer Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Fieldwork papaer - Assignment Example This topic was chosen because, personally speaking, a discovery of something interesting, especially when unexpected, is always welcome and appreciated. Also, a review of the notes done during the fieldwork shows several insights on the interplay of the social, economic, and human capitals that made the Solano Canyon Community Garden a possibility. Community gardens create a sense of camaraderie among the people in a community while providing a new method of growing food. It is possible that the sustainability of the positive results of the community garden can be ensured if its causes are maintained and looked after. The fieldwork approach for this research can be described as under contemporary anthropology, where the research method involves an extensive fieldwork featuring participant observation coupled with interpersonal interviews. This approach can also be called ethnography. Fieldwork is a good method for this research because it: a) helps get the â€Å"feel† of a place, b) helps to get to understand a society from the inside, and; c) provides the observational, factual basis for generalizations (OToole, Paddy, and Prisca 619). Observation was the initial method used to explore the possible topics and issues. Also, field notes were used to so that even the smallest details were jotted down. For interviews, casual conversations were the starting-point. Interview notes were used and interviewees were addressed on a first-name basis, with the permission of the interviewee. The whole set-up was very jovial, warm, and casual that no one seemed to want to be addressed too formally. A few asked â€Å"not to be quoted† on certain issues that they personally deem as sensitive, and to exercise balance on the overall research, it is decided that everyone would just be under a pseudonym, except for the Master Gardener Al Renner. Pagiarism and Paraphrasing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Pagiarism and Paraphrasing - Essay Example Additionally, the student starts the sentence as the original sentence without the use of alternative words and relevant connecting words to make the idea original. In their submission, the student could have paraphrased the sentence as follows: given the fact that studies in the biomedical field demand strict obedience to the rules and regulations and the fact that several peers review studies under the field, it is still not enough to give full credit to a scholarly work without due diligence (Crossen, 1994). This sentence is original and much better and thus meets the acceptable standards of plagiarism because although it expresses the same ideas, it uses completely different wording. A second sentence in the passage that has some element of plagiarism in it is the last phrase that goes, ‘and â€Å"buffing† the results by showing them in the best light’. Evidently, the student has again lifted the whole phrase from the original text but has only adjusted the wo rding at a minimal level that still constitutes plagiarism. In a correctly paraphrased text, the student could have stated that ‘the biomedical scholars ought to present their results as they are and not alter them to suit the acceptable scenarios.O’Conner (2003) argued that the art of extensive writing and reading ought to be the hobby of any writer who wishes to excel in the field. So You Think You Are Going to Live Forever Essay Example for Free

So You Think You Are Going to Live Forever Essay Everyone thinks that none of the stories they hear will happen to them. They think they are invincible. â€Å"So You Think You Are Going to Live Forever? † is a presentation by Officer Pete Collins to a group of high school students. It was taken in 1990 to lower the level of those who drink and drive. Sadly, the rate of drinking has gone up. In this essay, it will explain what beer commercials don’t. Alcohol is advertized every day. They are the leading category in commercial advertisements today. However, there is so many things alcohol and beer advertisements don’t mention. Like the many lives it has take, young and old, or how it robs yourself of your own decisions. When alcohol is running through one’s bloodstream it paralyzes their ability to make decisions for themselves. Alcohol robs the bloodstream of oxygen. Your body and brain need lots of oxygen to function properly. The lack of oxygen results in speech and behavioral changes. They cannot think for themselves. Imagine you can’t think and you mix that with driving. The consequences are extreme. People think that if they don’t drink they are safe. That is tremendously wrong. You have the same chances of getting in a wreck when you are not drunk then when you are. There has already been 244 deaths due to drunk driving just this year. Drinking affects every one of us, regardless of whether we chose to drink or not. You probably were not drinking, but the reckless driver that crashed into you was. Other peoples actions and chooses affect you just as much as your own chooses affect you. One person is killed every half hour due to drunk driving. Each year approximately 16,000 are killed. Alcohol is a factor in almost half of all traffic fatalities. Every other minute a person is seriously injured in an alcohol related crash. YOU can prevent this by just not drinking while driving. That is why everyone should help spread the word to not drink and drive. You never know, it might even save our life and also your loved ones. When Officer Collins first walked on and started talking, I was like â€Å"Great another video teaching us not to drink and drive. † However, after the video ended I was so affected by the stories of the many that dies; I decided I would make a chose to never drink and drive. People don’t understand the risk they are putting on their lives and on everybody else’s life on the read. If people understood, they wouldn’t even think twice about getting into a car when they are drunk. They think they are invincible, like nothing will happen to them. Their friends are by their side, drinking and having a good time. They pressure you into drinking, even though you know you have to drive that night. You think they are true friends that they’ll be by your side forever. However, when you are covered in glass, you know you were wrong. Your friends won’t be there. â€Å"You’ll die all alone† were the exact words of Officer Collins. Do not drink and drive, no matter what the circumstances are. It is only human nature to think that nothing will happen to you. We are raised hearing so many stories that have never happened to us and we think they never will. Nevertheless, when we make the bad chooses, they most definitely happen. Officer Pete Collins experienced things that a human being should never have to ever experience. Every single one of us can prevent the deaths of car accidents if we chose not to drink and drive. Do not be fooled by the beer commercials. For they only tell you what they want you to hear. Do not drink and drive, no matter what. If you survived once, you won’t be so lucky the next time.

The Work of Jean Piaget Essay example -- psychology education genetic

The Work of Jean Piaget Jean Piaget, a Swiss psychologist, was a pioneer in the field of developmental psychology. He developed many fields of science, but is recognised primarily for his contribution to the field of genetic epistemology (the theory of knowledge). He believed that there was a biological explanation for the development of knowledge, and that children had their own processes of learning, and their thought processes were separate and distinct from adults. He developed a broad theory, based on his studies of children, which described four main stages in the learning process. He began studying children and the development of knowledge when he moved to Paris and began working on the Simon-Binet intelligence study, and this was the foundation for his later work. His work with children was a major part of his life up until his death, in 1980. Piaget's theory forms the basis of many educational principles used in the present day, and has greatly expanded our understanding of the way in which knowledge is acquired. He believed that children created their own theories of the world, and were constantly testing those theories, in order to develop their understanding of the world. This was in direct contrast to the generally-held belief at that time that children should be taught by rote, that simple repetition would ensure knowledge and that children were merely 'empty vessels waiting to be filled'[1]. Understanding the Patient Intake Process – Essay

Although, there are ways to make it easier for both the patient and the medical billing specialist and that is to use online registration. However, let us discuss the current process first. Although, the actual process may vary from practice to practice, the main objective behind the process is to obtain Information from new and established patients while he/she Is checking In at the practitioner's office, the hospital, or health clinic. Patient flow can be maintained if the medical practice implements an effective intake process. The intake process is just as important in serving satisfied customers as how he/she are treated during the process, time waiting in the waiting room to be taken back to the exam room, and time spent with the physician. If any of the processes are caking in organization, there will be unsatisfied customers, or patients, which, in turn, leads to less customers, or patients, that the physician administers treatment to. The process begins before the patient eve r steps foot inside the practitioners office. As soon as the patient calls the office to make an appointment the intake process begins because when a patient calls to make an appointment, the individual in charge of scheduling usually gathers the person's full name, telephone number, address, date of birth, gender, reason for the appointment, the name of the health Lana (If the patient has knob and the name of the referring physician (If the patient Is referred) (Valueless, Bases, Newbie, & Gaggers, Chapter 3-Patient Encounters and Billing Information, 2008).Then the office employee schedules the patient for the appropriate amount of time according to the reason for the visit. When the patient comes into the office the day of the appointment, if he/she is a new patient, he/she must come in early to fill out paperwork. One way that this can be made easier for patients, as well as medical staff, is for the medical practice to have online registration available to the patients. Online re gistration is a tool used by medical facilities to allow patients to register his/her billing and medical information before coming into the office for the first time. Because the patients are responsible for filling out the registration, there are fewer errors and less work for he staff member responsible for putting the information into the computer program. Furthermore, the patients look at it as a convenience (Sporran Solutions, 2011). Patients view this as a convenience because it enables him/her to fill out their information on his/her own time- at any time day or night. So, instead of having to fill out the information when he/she arrives at the office, he/she can fill it out beforehand and have less time spent in the waiting room (Sporran Solutions, 2011). Online registration also enables medical staff to receive and chart information more accurately and efficiently. So how does it work? When the patient calls to make his/ her first appointment the staff member that he/she is talking to tells him/her that they are able to register online before their first appointment (Sporran Solutions, 2011). The patient fills out the information and once it is completed the staff member can put it into the system, print it, and prepare the patient chart before the visit; physician reviews medical history more quickly (Sporran Solutions, 2011).

Japanese National Anthem Kimigayo

The Japanese national anthem (kokka) is Kimigayo. When the Meiji period began in 1868 and Japan made its start as a modern nation, there was no Japanese national anthem. In fact, the person who emphasized the necessity of a national anthem  was a British military band instructor, John William Fenton. Words of the Japanese National Anthem The words were taken from a tanka (31-syllable poem) found in the Kokin-wakashu, a 10th-century anthology of poems. The music was composed in 1880 by Hiromori Hayashi, an Imperial Court musician and was later harmonized according to the Gregorian mode by Franz Eckert, a German bandmaster. Kimigayo (The Emperors Reign) became Japans national anthem in 1888.The word kimi refers to the Emperor and the words contain the prayer: May the Emperors reign last forever. The poem was composed in the era when the Emperor reigned over the people. During WWII, Japan was an absolute monarchy which moved the Emperor to the top. The Japanese Imperial Army invaded many Asian countries. The motivation was that they were fighting for the holy Emperor. After WWII, the Emperor became the symbol of Japan by the Constitution and has lost all political power. Since then various objections have been raised about singing Kimigayo as a national anthem. However, at present, it remains sung at national festivals, international events, schools, and on national holidays.
